Jets waived RB James “Jocko” Wright to make room for OL Austin Howard, who will likely replace the injured James Starks in the rotation.
Ryan Fitzpatrick will start at quarterback and the Jets hope to see Wright make his NFL debut before the regular season begins.
Wright had a promising career in the NFL as a running back, but he missed all of 2016 with a knee injury.
Howard is a 6-foot-3, 228-pound veteran with experience as a returner and a receiver.
He’s expected to compete with rookie Dwayne Allen, who missed the season with an ankle injury.
The Jets also waived WR Adam Shaheen and WR Tarell Brown.
