Lakeline mall in Oak Park will close at its current address by March 1, 2018.
It’s expected to remain closed to shoppers for a few months, though, the mall announced Thursday.
The mall is operated by The Lakeline Companies, a Chicago-based developer that owns The Lakeliner Group, a chain of Lakeline-branded stores.
The Lakelines planned to close by March 30, but the mall said in a statement that the closing was postponed until March 21.
Alderman John Arena said he wants to see a new mall opened in Lakeline, which has a population of about 100,000. “
We are grateful for the continued support of the community and are committed to making this difficult decision as soon as possible.”

It opened in 2010, and the mall’s mall plans included the construction of a hotel.
